Justin Harris: EOD Leg training Day 18

I think I’m going to cut the legs EOD for 6 weeks off at the 20th leg workout mark.  I started on a Saturday (I think…maybe Sunday) and the 20th workout will be this Friday.  There’s a chance I’ll have to cut it sooner as my wife will be going into labor with our 4th kid any day now…but assuming that doesn’t happen before then, I have two more leg workouts to go.

I trained at Strength beyond in Kalamazoo with Randy Howard and his son.  We had a pretty decent workout.

Horizontal calves:
5×15

Seated calf:
3×15

Seated Leg curls:
1×20
1×15
1×12
1×10
1×8

Leg press MTUT style
(5 seconds down, 5 seconds up, then 5 normal reps, then 5 seconds up, 5 seconds down, then 5 normal reps)
4×12 total reps
I wanted to do a 5th or 6th set of these, but my hip was really hurting and got to the point where I just couldn’t fight through it for another set

Lying leg curls:
4×12

Squats:
1×15 135lb
1×10 225lb
1×10 315lb
1×6 405lb
For some reason I kept positioning the bar crooked on my back and had to bail on the 6th rep of the last set because it started to slide down my back on the right side.  I don’t know what the reason was for that, but I just couldn’t get the bar situated correctly all day

Leg extensions:
4×20

Dumbell stiff leg deadlifts:
2×15
I had to pick my daughter up from basketball practice and had to leave at this point, but I wanted to do another couple of sets here.

I think the pics are showing some progress in my leg development.  They’re definitely MUCH leaner and more vascular.  You can see the vascularity through my tights in the more recent photos.  I don’t know how much my quads have come up (other than the vascularity), but my hams and calves have come up a ton.  Hamstrings and calves were always weak points for me in years past.  They’re definitely not weak points any more–if anything I’d say my legs in general are my strongest body part at this moment.
Now….my upper body has probably lost some size during this experiment, so the “legs are my strong point” thing may change as I go back to normal training and my upper body regains size, but I don’t think my legs will ever be a weak point again, and  if I ever get on stage again I’ll be excited to show off my hamstring “hang” on side chest and triceps for the first time ever.
