So after this recent show I was able to have a good think about what I want to do moving forward. I am pretty set on continuing to compete in future but I am not hell bent on competing every year or as soon as possible which many make the mistake of doing and rush back to the stage.
The things I need to work on, require TIME to grow, thickening up and growing key areas which doesn’t bother me one bit (time away from stage) – as long I get to be a “bodybuilder” I am happy…only thing is the focus will be growing, not getting peeling for the stage.
I want to move over to IFBB and enter Classic Physique which i think my structure suites best and IFBB here in Australia is pretty much as high a standard in terms of competition and competitors as you get. PCA is brand new, hence this recent show was not well run and had minimal entrees…a good thing is that they don’t mind you moving to another federation and back if you choose. This was not the case with Nabba from what I hear.
Anyway, ending week 1 post show I had a nice string of HIGH days + a cheat last meal each day which well and truly satisfied the hunger hormones and I’m actually cravings less carbs and a bit more fats funny enough. When it comes to dieting or eating I enjoy the eating strict portion knowing a cheat or a HIGH day is around the corner anyway…so I never cheat on my diet randomly.
Weight is up 20lbs with a nice amount of water retention in the legs mainly but my upper boy is still very conditioned which I’m happy about. Eager to see what I look like after I move to my rebound diet this coming week as I will drop the excess water. This time last prep, I ended up leaner than the pre comp and we entered another show 6 days out un planned! (there is a show in 3 weeks time haha but I have no plans on getting up tbh)
Rebound gear wise is around 50% of what I was using:
Dropped all orals….feel amazing this week.
I also started a new program this week which was damn fun and I think exactly what my body needs as a change up from the last phase running Leg/Push/Pull. This got quite taxing in the end, but may have also simply been the end of prep. New split is:
I know running 4 days straight looks taxing but I find that because not every day is a killer, rather only Legs and Back, I was able to manage 4 in a row and recover just fine. If I don’t progress in the gym running this moving forward, I will back off to 3 on 1 off.
The volume is a touch higher compared to last split where I would only do say 2 all out work sets, here I ramp up to 1 max set over 3 sub max sets so by the end there is more work carried out, less load but was more pump also…basically how every bodybuilder trains HAHA
Focusing on specific muscles is something I think I need also compared to my last program where I found certain areas lag.
Over the weeks to come, intensity techiques will be employed such as drops, rest pause etc It will be the same rotation each cycle, but the change will be the addition of a variety of these.
Here’s to a juicy and productive rebound before we cruise and rest for a bit.
